In our last post, we shared the scoop on the nutritional makeup of Current Tuna. But, we know some of you are still wondering about how our fish made from plants get their color. Is the color artificial? It can’t possibly be from plants?!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Well, we’ve always liked a challenge. The color is entirely plant-based as well. More specifically, it’s from tomatoes and radish 🍅⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In order to perfect that beautiful, delicious-looking red, we take the tomato’s orange-red hues and mix it with the purple-red hues of radish until the right color is found. Much like Picasso used colors to express his feelings, Current Tuna red is meant to awaken the appetite and be a feast for the eyes as well.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

We get a lot of Qs about what our tuna is actually made from... And guess what? It is actually made from plants! 🐟🌱⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

We like to think of Current Tuna as a cocktail of veggies. It's a mix of imaginative food science and earthly ingredients, including veggies like tomatoes, peas, and algae that come together to form the perfect plant-based substitute for our cousin tuna. We love it, you love it, and Tina Tuna has found it life-changing (literally. but more about her later)! 🍸⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Algae is the fuel that makes the ocean go ’round. Fish eat algae. It’s the algae that give them their omega-3 nutrition and ocean flavor. We just take you directly to the source. All the taste, all the nutrition, without the fishy middlemen.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Just like the protein found in our cousins - pea protein is a complete protein, containing all the nine essential amino acids. This baby from the legume family is an ingredient often used to introduce a muscle-building component into a plant-based diet. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
